Dear Reader,

The Women's Day Wellness Session led by Dr. Chitwan Dubey shed light on various aspects of women's health, offering valuable insights and empowering advice. Throughout the session, we delved into a myriad of essential topics, each providing valuable knowledge and guidance. From discussions about teaching young children about good and bad touch from the tender age of 7 to shedding light on societal pressures surrounding marriage and fertility, the session was an eye-opener.

Dr. Dubey shared some alarming statistics: Every hour in India, 6 women succumb to cervical cancer and breast cancer. She emphasized the critical need for regular health check-ups, with a strong emphasis on breast self-examination and Pap smears for early detection of these cancers. We also discussed the significance of insurance coverage and the need to empower ourselves with knowledge and skills, fostering a positive attitude towards our health.

We explored the rising concerns surrounding cancer and the crucial role of a balanced lifestyle in combating it. We also discussed the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle through regular exercise and nutritious eating habits, including the consumption of fruits, dry fruits, and healthy snacks.

The discussion extended to menstrual health and hygiene, with an emphasis on the importance of regular gynaecological check-ups and proper menstrual hygiene practices. Additionally, we raised awareness about STDs, emphasizing the importance of contraception, and vaccinations such as HPV.

Dr. Dubey also suggested using PCOS instead of PCOD to remove the negative connotation associated with the term "disease/disorder" and promote a more inclusive approach. Similarly, she recommended using "subfertility" instead of "infertility" for a more empathetic and empowering perspective on reproductive health.

In summary, the wellness session empowered the women of SDA Bocconi Asia Center with knowledge, skills, and a positive outlook towards their health and well-being. It emphasized the importance of proactive measures and informed choices in leading healthier lives.

Yours in health and happiness,

UDGAM
